Annotation Node
Add a resizable note to the canvas to document an automation
Last updated 11 Oct 2026
The Annotation node is a sticky note for the canvas. It holds text, can be resized and colored, and has no input or output, so it takes no part in the flow of data. It appears under Output in the node palette.
When to Use
Use Annotation to explain what a part of an automation does, leave a note for teammates, mark a to-do, or label a section of a large canvas. To group the nodes themselves into a labelled block, use Group.
Ports
None. An annotation has no input or output handles and cannot be connected to other nodes.
Configuration
Double-click a note on the canvas to type in it, or select it and use the properties panel:
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
content | string | The text of the note |
color | string | Background color: Yellow (default), Blue, Green, Pink, Indigo, Purple, Gray, or White |
align | left | center | right | Text alignment (default: left) |
fontSize | small | medium | large | Text size (default: medium) |
Select a note to show its resize handles. A note can be anywhere from 100 by 40 up to 600 by 400 pixels.
Notes
- Editing saves when you click away. Press Escape to cancel an edit.
- Annotations are never executed. Validation and runs skip them, and they do not count as the source node an automation needs or as an output node.
- You can duplicate and delete annotations like any other node.
