Switch Node
Route records to multiple outputs by matching a field against cases
Last updated 24 Jun 2026
The Switch node evaluates one field on each record against a list of cases and routes the record to the matching case's output. Unlike Condition, which has exactly two branches, Switch fans out to as many branches as you define plus an optional default.
When to Use
Use Switch when you need to route records to three or more downstream paths based on a single field — for example, by industry vertical, country, tier, or numeric range.
Configuration
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
field | string | The record field to evaluate |
matchMode | exact | contains | regex | range | How each case is matched against the field value (default: exact) |
caseSensitive | boolean | Whether string matching is case-sensitive (default: false) |
cases | array | List of cases, each defining one output branch (see below) |
hasDefault | boolean | Route unmatched rows to a default branch, or drop them (default: true) |
Case Properties
Which case fields apply depends on matchMode:
| Property | Type | Used by | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
label | string | all | Case (branch) name shown on the output handle |
values | string | exact, contains | Comma-separated values to match (e.g. value1, value2) |
pattern | string | regex | Regular expression to test against the field |
min | number | range | Lower bound of the numeric range |
max | number | range | Upper bound of the numeric range |
Example
Route by company tier:
field: tier
matchMode: exact
caseSensitive: false
cases:
- label: Enterprise
values: enterprise
- label: Mid-Market
values: mid-market, midmarket
- label: SMB
values: smb, small
hasDefault: true
Notes
- Cases are evaluated in order; the first match wins. Each record exits through exactly one branch.
- With
matchMode: exactorcontains, list multiple acceptable values invalues, comma-separated. - With
hasDefault: true, unmatched records exit through the Default handle; withhasDefault: false, they are dropped. - For two-branch boolean logic, Condition is simpler.
